Slowing down to enjoy May

May was a quieter month around here, and honestly? It was exactly what I needed.
I've been doing a lot of organizing — cleaning out spaces, reorganizing, purging unneeded items, making things feel more intentional. I started setting up a tablescape I've been thinking about for Halloween (yes, already — if you've been around here a while, you know I take the Halloween season seriously). I forgot to grab photos before I moved things around, which means it'll have to wait for a proper blog post, but the wheels are turning and I'm excited about where it's headed. It gave me the chance to see what pieces I still need to collect.
The big maker project of the month was caning. I finished my practice chair, which felt incredibly satisfying — there's something about learning a new craft. I'm not a one-craft person, and I never have been. Trying new things, figuring out a new technique, sitting with the frustration of a learning curve — that's part of what making means to me. I also started a larger caning project... and have to restart it. That's just how it goes sometimes.
On the shop side, a few new stitch marker listings went up in the knitting shop, and — I'm so excited to share this — the photography shop made its first sales. 🎉 It feels like a quiet milestone, but it means a lot. I pour a lot of heart into those photos, and knowing someone out there wanted to bring them home is the best feeling. I hope more people find their way to the gallery.
Mostly though, May was about visiting with family, reading some good books, and letting myself not be so stressed about the to-do list. The business is still moving. The making is still happening. But sometimes the most productive thing you can do is step back and breathe for a minute.
Here's to June. 🌿
