Starting new projects in June

Somehow this month managed to feel like it took forever and flew by all at once. I started a new day job, so I'm back to cramming crafting into spare moments, and I've actually stepped back from knitting for a little while because a few other things have caught my attention.
A New Obsession: The Yard
I've gotten really excited about planning out the landscaping for our yard and making the space feel calm, welcoming, and beautiful. Earlier in the spring, I put in some large branches as garden edging and threw down some seeds just to see what would grow. But this last month, I finally sat down to come up with a more cohesive plan.
For this project, I wanted to really think about longevity, what I'm putting in and how much time it will take to keep each area looking good. I'm planning it one small garden bed at a time.
I'm not big into gardening myself, but I love sitting out in a flower garden, so that's where I started: thinking about how I want the space to feel, and choosing plants that will take the least effort to maintain. Everything I'm picking is either a hardy Minnesota perennial or a self-seeder reliable enough that it might as well be one. I've settled on a mostly white, red, and burgundy color scheme, and I'm hoping it all comes together into a romantic cottage garden feel. I finally sealed the backdrop frame from my wedding to use as a trellis. It's something I've wanted to do for many years, and I can't believe it's finally going to be out in the garden.
Beads Are Back
It has been many years since I've done any bead crafting, but I pulled them out this month after seeing that Michaels had already announced their Halloween trends for the year. It seems to get earlier every year, but their themes got me genuinely excited for spooky season. That excitement turned into creating a new round of stitch marker sets for the shop, and I'm posting those listings as I finish them.
Finding a Rhythm
Between the yard, the beads, and everything else pulling at my attention, I'm starting to feel like I might be jumping around a lot between creative pursuits. I love the variety, but it can feel disorganized too. As I settle into this new season of life, I'm hoping to find a rhythm that lets me keep all of my maker pursuits moving forward, without losing the joy in any one of them.
