Keeping up with the summer crafts

July started off with crafting for the kids' birthday party. I put together a Winnie the Pooh scene for my kids' birthdays, and I love how much they lit up when they saw it.
From there, most of the month turned into behind-the-scenes work. I spent a good chunk of July cleaning out and reorganizing my maker spaces (basement, garage and office) to get ready for Halloween crafting season. There's something satisfying about clearing the clutter before diving into a new season of projects. I can't believe how much I have collected for this year and it is so much easier to start once everything is sorted out.
I also started sourcing supplies for some larger projects I have coming up, and restocked my plant stitch markers, which have been such a fun little collection to keep growing.
The biggest news of the month though: I registered several projects for the Minnesota State Fair, entering it in the Creative Activities Needlecraft division. Drop off is coming soon, and I'm excited to see how it does. It's a fun full circle moment, some are pieces I designed, and now it gets to be judged as a finished, wearable piece of craftsmanship.
What's on my needles hasn't been moving much this month. I am still slowly working on the Shortest Day Shawl and the Sleepaway Camp Socks. They have been set down for a bit while I make up another Laurence the Tiger after we lost the first one. The kids still look for it on occasion, but after a month we figured the original was probably not turning back up.
